Page1. It takes someone with a pretty high style quotient to transform the designs of luminaries like Oscar de la Renta, Lulu deKwiatkowski and Fabien Baron into something new. Elson & Company’s Diane Elson Bankoff has been doing just that for 15 years with her Tibetan rugs and dhurries. Showing locally and in New York at John Rosselli & Associates, Elson has built up a global following and a demand that is pushing her Foxhall-based business to expand into boradloom collections for major commercial clients and hotels this season. Elson Bankoff’s own aesthetic is a highly curated layering of color and pattern that’s credited with helping to transforms DC’s traditional set one rug at a time.
